This confirms the legal status of KL as a private university in accordance with the Austria Private University Act (Privatuniversitätgesetz, PUG) (Federal Law Gazette I No. 74/2011 as amended) and the high quality standards of KL, which are guaranteed by the rigorous official accreditation procedure based on international standards.

Private universities in Austria must obtain formal recognition in order to be able to operate and offer study programmes that qualify graduates for a recognised academic degree. Under the Austrian Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (Hochschul-Qualitätssicherungsgesetz, HS-QSG), the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria (AQ Austria) is responsible for carrying out accreditation procedures in Austria.
AQ Austria is a quality assurance agency with an international profile and operates both nationally and internationally. It is an active member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the Central and Eastern European Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (CEENQA) and the global network INQAAHE. On the basis of its international recognition, AQ Austria has also been included in the European Register of Quality Assurance Agencies EQAR.
