Division of Biostatistics and Data Science
Mission Statement
In the field of medicine, more than in any other discipline, the answering of scientific questions is linked to a well-founded evaluation of observed effects and the proof of possible evidence. This determines forms of therapy, appropriate interventions and, ultimately, the state of health of patients.
Due to enormous technological advances in medical measurement systems and the steadily growing use of multimodal device combinations, significantly increasing volumes of data can be observed in recent years. As a result, the choice of suitable statistical methods and the processing of data in particular are becoming more complex.
The Division of Biostatistics and Data Science at KL aims to support the evaluation of data series, the reliable detection of signal components and the question of significant effects by using and further developing state-of-the-art statistical methods. In particular, an expanded view of the planning and execution of studies is to be established. This will include the selection and configuration of measurement techniques as well as a sustainable documentation of research data.
