Requirements for Open Access funding
The Karl Landsteiner University offers a wide range of services to support authors in the process of Open Access publishing.
To benefit from this service, please contact the Library Services team at bibliothek@kl.ac.at before submitting your manuscript. The team will check that the formal criteria are met to ensure that the costs are covered.
Under certain conditions and compliance with formal criteria, the KL can assume the publication costs for your Open Access publication (APC):
- The author is a member of the Karl Landsteiner University or one of its affiliated University Hospitals and is identified as the "corresponding author" of the article.
- The intended journal is listed in DOAJ (Gold Open Access Journals) or in Scopus (also contains Green and Hybrid Open Access Journals): This is checked in advance by the Research Management Unit (Library Services).
- It is not a predatory journal: The Research Management Unit (Library Services) checks this in advance.
- There are no separate project funds (third-party funds) available for the publication costs.
- The APC of the article does not exceed €3,000 incl. tax.

The final funding approval is at the discretion of Karl Landsteiner University.
- The affiliations of the KL authors are clearly indicated and comply with the Affiliation Policy.
- The following words are to be used for "Acknowledgements" or "Funding":
- "We acknowledge support by Open Access Publishing Fund of Karl Landsteiner University, Krems, Austria."
- "Wir danken der Karl Landsteiner Privatuniversität, Krems, Österreich, für ihre Unterstützung durch den Open Access Publikationsfonds."
