Opening of the Core Facility at Campus Krems

The Core Facility at the Krems campus was opened on 9th October with a ceremony attended by Johanna Mikl-Leitner, governess of Lower Austria.

State-of-the-art large-scale facilities are available at the Karl Landsteiner University and the Danube University Krems for research in the fields of bioimaging and cell analysis as well as biomechanics and tissue engineering. KL, DUK and IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems will use the new research infrastructure, which is financed by the province of Lower Austria, the Lower Austrian Health and Social Fund (NÖGUS) with around 3.2 million euros. It is intended to expand the range of methods and support the existing connection to international medical research.

With the Core Facility, the human and biomedical research of the three universities on the Campus Krems can use a high-resolution scanning electron microscope, a confocal laser scanning microscope, a flow cytometer, a nanoparticle tracking analysis device, a bioanalyzer, static and dynamic material testing machines, tissue preparation equipment, a CNC portal milling machine and a MicroCT system.
