14th ISLS at the Medical University Brandenburg
From 29th to 30th March 2019 the international Skillslab Symposium (ISLS) at the Medical University Brandenburg focused on the teaching of different medical skills.
Practical skills are an essential part of the medical working day. Teaching concepts such as "Trial and Erros" and "See one - Do one - Teach one" have long been a thing of the past due to their ineffectiveness. But does it really always have to be high fidelity simulation to train skills and procedures?
32 Skills Labs from the D-A-CH region and Slovenia published their current research projects on the 14th ISLS as well as training observations and discussed topics from various fields: Anamneses/communication, simulation subjects (SP), examination techniques, surgery, hygiene, sono, emergency medicine, medical didactics, assessment and EPAs (Entrustable Professional Activities) as well as IPE (interprofessional training);
At the end of the symposium, the relay team was symbolically handed over to Dr. Sophie Schober, research associate at KL. We are looking forward to holding the 15th ISLS in March 2020 at KL University in Krems.
