Young Researcher Awards: KL congratulates award winners

Three researchers from Karl Landsteiner University were honoured with prestigious Young Researcher Awards in November 2023. 

"The consequences of CDK 4/6 inhibition on the function of natural killer cells" was researched by Theresa Harm, BSc MSc, as part of her Master's thesis at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. The PhD student and research assistant in the Division of Pharmacology at the KL was honoured for this research work with an award from the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF). 

Jasmin Willinger, MSc, a graduate of the Master's degree programme in Psychology at KL, was also honoured with the BMBWF appreciation award. As part of her Master's thesis, the researcher investigated the "Relationship between psychotropic drugs and theory of mind in patients with borderline personality disorder".

The BMBWF's appreciation prize has been awarded annually since 1990 for outstanding diploma and master's theses at Austrian universities. This year, 55 graduates from 34 public and private universities and universities of applied sciences were honoured.

Sophie Rosa Edtmayer, MSc, research assistant in the Division of Pharmacology, was honoured with the IMPACT Award from the Gesellschaft für Forschungsförderung Niederösterreich (GFF NÖ) for her research work "Improving early diagnosis and therapeutic approaches in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)". The prize was awarded for the second time and recognises outstanding dissertations that were funded by the GFF NÖ as part of the Science Calls 2018, 2019 or the topic exchange for final theses with funds from the state of Lower Austria and have a significant impact on science and the solution of current challenges.
