Karl Landsteiner Symposium: World-class speakers on in immunology research
From B cells to antibodies - this was the motto of the Karl Landsteiner Symposium of the Danube Allergy Research Cluster (Danube ARC) held at Luberegg Castle in the Wachau region from 10-11 July 2023.
Around 250 researchers attended the two-day event of the Danube Allergy Research Cluster, which is coordinated by the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences (KL). The symposium, initiated by Danube ARC director Prof. Dr. Rudolf Valenta, MD, focused on current research developments in the field of immunology and allergology. Some of the best immunologists in the world were invited (all speakers and their CVs can be found in the programme below).
In a grand total of nine lectures, the top-class key note speakers presented their research approaches and current findings. In between, researchers from the Danube ARC and students from the PhD programme "Molecular, Cellular and Clinical Allergology (MCCA)" (Head: Prof. Dr. Winfried Pickl, MD) provided insights into their research work in short and poster presentations.
In addition to the professional exchange, the aim of the event was the networking of young researchers with experienced and successful international scientists in the field of immunology and allergology.
The general tenor of the international guests on the event: The Karl Landsteiner Symposium represented a valuable initiative for networking and deepening international research activities in the field of immunology. The special setting of the event in the middle of the Wachau World Heritage Site provided a wonderful backdrop for the retreat and the numerous discussions during the event and between the individual programme items.
The Danube ARC is sponsored by the Province of Lower Austria. The symposium was organised with the kind support of Niederösterreich Werbung.
