"I'm not a freak. I'm a scientist." - Young researchers in art calendar

Young talents of Lower Austria's research community presented in an art calendar. KL researchers Othniel James Aryeetey and Sophia Steinbacher are two of twelve young researchers in Lower Austria who are featured in an artistic project by the ecoplus business agency with a photo and interview.

The art project "I'm not a freak. I'm a scientist." is a collaborative work by action artist donhofer. and the photographer Michael Liebert. In the calendar, the two artists play with clichés on the subject of science: instead of being shown in their working environment, the researchers are shown in moving poses. "In order to bring the different personalities to the fore, we chose appropriate movement sequences and futuristic outfits. The aesthetics of the images thrive on long-exposure photographs, abstract backgrounds, a typographic layer, vibrant colors and people in motion," the artists said.

On the occasion of the digital presentation of the project, which unites science and art in a professionally produced photo calendar and presents twelve young scientists from the Technopol sites, Jochen Danninger, the provincial councilor for economics and technology, and Helmut Miernicki, managing director of ecoplus, emphasized the impressive achievements of the researchers.

The 2021 calendar has a print run of 400 copies and will be distributed exclusively to universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutes, Technopol partner companies and people interested in science. The calendar can be ordered on ecoplus website - while stocks last.
