Research

The comprehensive research activities primarily focus on the concerns and health as well as societal challenges faced by young people.

The interdisciplinary research team addresses a diverse range of topics, including media psychology in connection with the use of video games, binge-watching, screen time, and associated lifestyle questions. Additionally, the team explores the intriguing intersection between psychology and nutrition, particularly concerning dietary supplements and chronic fatigue.

Within the domain of clinical research, the research team collaborates closely with the Departments of Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UK Tulln. Complementary research is conducted alongside the extensive clinical work of the departments. Third-party funded projects as well as projects within the framework of BSc, MSc and PhD theses are jointly supervised. Regular training events are held.

The knowledge gained is intended to highlight gaps in the care of young, growing-up individuals, promote developmental psychological understanding, and contribute to the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses through the development of appropriate interventions. The establishment of the Research Centre leads to a visible positioning of the topic for international cooperation in this field. Therefore, the immediate benefits of the Research Centre include not only international academic visibility in this new discipline but also increased visibility in the national and international public sphere.
