Case Report by Franz Marhold and team from St. Pölten University Hospital in Acta Neurochirurgica
Neuro-surgeon Franz Marhold und his team from the clinical department for neuro surgery and the clinical department for pathology at St. Pölten University Hospital could publish a case report according to a fluorescence-guided resection of a so called Meningeom on the cover of the renowned European scientific journal "Acta Neurochirurgica".
The case report documents an operation using 5-Aminosäurehydrochlorid (5-ALA), an organic compound, which in 90 percent of all meningeoms starts fluorescing in the case of application with UV-light This fluorscence allows to reveal and remove hidden tumour residues.
