New cooperation in research with Psychosomatic Center Eggenburg

Karl Landsteiner Private University and Psychosomatic Center Eggenburg seal research deal – Lower Austrian province government founds Chair for Clinical Psychology

Karl Landsteiner University will co-operate closely with Psychosomatic Center Waldviertel in Eggenburg in clinical psychology research. To this end Lower Austria is investing 1,3 million Euro for a Chair in Clinical Psychology. Together with KL rector Rudolf Mallinger and Eggenburg Chief of Medicine Friedrich Riffer Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner today signed a co-operation treaty in St.Poelten.

This research co-operation, stated Mikl-Leitner, shall yield new findings in treatment and prevention of mental health issues. Furthermore, students of the future psychology master study at KL will thus gain access to practical training in clinical psychology. KL started in 2013, there are currently 300 students in Health Sciences, Human Medicine, Psychologie, and Psychotherapie and Guidance Studies. At Psychsomatic Center Waldviertel researchers are focussed on the interface between physical and mental symptoms and processes, as well as on the field of prevention.
