Dr. Beate Schrank on the implications of e-sports
In the ORF broadcast STUDIO 2, KL psychiatry expert Dr. Beate Schrank today explained the dangers and effects that the (semi-)professional practice of e-sports, i.e. online sports games can have.
She identifies parallels to professional sport and pleads for vigilance in dealing with the games. At the same time she points out the positive effects of computer games, which are important in neuroscience and research.
One of the researches Dr. Schrank and her interdisciplinary team are successfully using them in is the project D.O.T - The Open Door.
