Sex differences in the management and outcome of acute coronary syndrome
Still an issue of equal treatment?
Recent publication
A team from the Division of Internal Medicine 3 at St. Pölten University Hospital specialising in cardiology has published a review on gender-specific differences in the diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndrome. The analysis of the available literature revealed that the treatment of female patients with acute coronary syndrome tends to be delayed due to a lack of cardiac symptoms. The doctors emphasise how important it is to be aware of gender-specific differences in symptoms in order to provide all patients with acute coronary syndrome with the best possible treatment. The review has been published open access in the Wiener Klinische Wochenzeitschrift.
