Dr Julia Mascherbauer, Head of the Division of Internal Medicine III at St. Pölten University Hospital, is involved in the AUTHEARTVISIT study. In an Austria-wide sample, the research team analysed the outcome after surgical aortic valve replacement with either a mechanical or a bioprosthetic valve prosthesis. The sample included 991 patients from an interval of 10 years. The results of the aortic valve comparison were published open access in the European Journal of Cardio-thoracic Surgery.
