How I learnt to write research papers as a non-native English speaker

Research service

Nuwan Bandara, PhD works as an analytical chemist at the Australian National University in Canberra. Originally from Sri Lanka, the scientist, like many of his colleagues, not only had to deal with his scientific work in the course of his career development, but also had to learn scientific writing in English. In his column in Nature, Nuwan Bandara, PhD gives seven tips for writing scientific publications.

The Karger Campus Courses offer helpful tutorials in English for writing publications. The tutorials are available free of charge to students and employees of both the KL and the University Hospitals after institutional access.

As part of the Science Skills Services, there is the "Scientific English" course - the last one took place in the winter semester of 2023/24. If you are interested in the "Scientific English" course, please contact the Research Management Unit.
