Emergency transvenous temporary pacing during rotational atherectomy
Recent publication
A team from the Division of Internal Medicine III (Cardiology) at St. Pölten University Hospital has retrospectively analysed the data of patients who underwent a special cardiac catheterisation procedure (rotational atherectomy) over a period of three years. Specifically, the researchers analysed how often a transvenous pacing wire had to be inserted acutely due to severe bradycardia or heart block. The aim was to use the available data to clarify whether the routine use of transvenous pacing wires to prevent bradycardia complications should be recommended. Thanks to open access funding from Karl Landsteiner University, the study is freely available in the journal Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
