Effectiveness of Online and Remote Interventions for Mental Health in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults

... After the Onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Recent publication

Researchers of Karl Landsteiner University conducted a systematic literature review and meta-analysis to determine the effectiveness of online interventions for mental health of children, adolescents and young adults. The range of online counselling services was expanded during the Covid-19 pandemic due to contact restrictions and increasing demand. The overall effect size of the online intervention on anxiety, social functioning, depression, well-being, stress, eating disorders and Covid-19-associated symptoms was calculated. The analysis included 17 randomised trials identified as relevant with a total of 8732 participants. Thanks to KL's open access funding, the study was published freely accessible in the journal JMIR Mental Health and represents a starting point for further necessary, high-quality research in the field of online and remote interventions for mental health.
