Development of an open-source solution
... to facilitate the use of one-button wearables in experience sampling designs
Recent publication
Selina Volsa, MSc from the Division of Psychological Methodology has developed a screenless, one-button wearable that can be worn on the wrist to record the frequency of certain events in everyday life. The easier it is for test subjects to document events, the better the results of the studies. The wearable can be configured and used with an open source application for Android and was developed as part of the FWF project "Experience Sampling with Wearables: An Open Source Solution". In six pilot studies, the use of the wearable is analysed with regard to its possibilities, limitations and in comparison to smartphones. Thanks to open access funding from Karl Landsteiner University, the work has been made freely available in the journal “Behavior Research Methods”.
