Examining terror management theory in Ukraine

Impact of air-raid alarms and explosions on mental health, somatic symptoms, and well-being

Recent publication

In a collaboration between the Division of Psychological Methodology and Ukrainian researchers, the Terror Management Theory (TMT) was tested in a real war situation. Between November 2022 and January 2023, 307 subjects participated in the study using the smartphone-based app ESMira. Anxiety, well-being and psychosomatic symptoms were assessed. The researchers investigated the influence of habituation and resilience on the collected parameters and whether the basic assumptions of TMT apply. Thanks to open-access funding from KL, the paper has been published freely available in the journal Frontiers in Psychiatry.
