A nurse-led intervention to enhance hospitalized older adults' protein and energy nutrition

A team of researchers led by Dr Hanna Mayer studied malnutrition in elderly patients who had been in hospital for at least five days. The researchers developed a logic model based on a mix of six methods. The resulting complex intervention "Eat Enough" influences the behaviour and attitudes of interprofessional care teams with the aim of improving the nutritional situation of elderly patients in hospital. The authors of the open access article in the International Journal of Nursing Knowledge recommend the implementation and evaluation of the model through future research.
