In her article in the Zeitschrift für Gerontologie und Geriatrie, Dr Vera Gallistl-Kassing, BA MA, and her colleagues once again examine material gerontology. Based on current work, the researchers discuss age(ing) not as a purely human process, but distributed across people, matter, technologies and spaces. In this context, material gerontology speaks of "ageing assemblages", i.e. structures of people, matter, space and technology. For the development of technologies, the authors recommend not focussing on individuals alone, but to consider age(ing) in the context of interacting criteria.
