Affective and cognitive Theory of Mind in patients with alcohol use disorder

Associations with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and somatization

Recent publication

Researchers from the Division of Clinical Psychology have investigated the role of theory of mind in alcohol abuse. Theory of mind, which describes the ability to attribute feelings and thoughts to other people, was assessed at the beginning and end of a 60-day withdrawal treatment, as well as symptoms of depression, anxiety, somatic disorders and social behaviour in 175 subjects. The study, which was supported by the Society for the Promotion of Research in Lower Austria (GFF), was published in the Journal of Substance Use and Addiction Treatment thanks to open access funding from the Karl Landsteiner University.
