Welcome Days at the University Hospitals

The first week of the new students in the Bachelor of Health Sciences was dedicated to the Welcome Days at the University Hospitals of Tulln, Krems and St. Pölten.

Last Tuesday, their second day at KL University, the students visited the University Hospital Tulln. The different departments introduced themselves and their tasks. Afterwards, the students were allowed to put their hands on and, for example, perform an endoscopy on a mandarin, simulate a meniscus operation or reanimate a dummy with respiratory arrest.

Wednesday - Welcome Day at the University Hospital Krems - was a very instructive and exciting day for our students. Various lectures ranging from anaesthesia to trauma and oncology formed the basis for the afternoon workshops. The students were able to determine their own blood group, train on the laparoscopy simulator or "fish" gummy bears out of a dummy lung during bronchoscopy.

The University Hospital St. Pölten presented itself on yesterday's 3rd Welcome Day. The interdisciplinarity of the individual departments and the importance of cooperation were illustrated by various case studies. After the lunch snack there was the opportunity to exchange ideas, followed by a second lecture block. All in all a very informative day for our students.

Many thanks to the teams of the University Hospitals Tulln, Krems and St.Pölten for the great organisation of the Welcome Days!
