Missed Nursing Care is the technical term for necessary nursing activities that are not carried out or are carried out too late. Standardised questionnaires are available for the survey of missed nursing care. These have to be translated into the respective national language. The TRAPD method is considered the best practice for the translation of questionnaires but has rarely been used in nursing science. TRAPD stands for Translation, Review, Adjudication, Pretest and Documentation. Using the example of the translation of the MISSCARE questionnaire from English into German with the TRAPD method, its advantages and limitations were discussed. Some adaptations were necessary for a successful application, which are also described in detail by the authors. The paper published in the journal "Pflege" is a first step towards the application and specific adaptation of the TRAPD method for questionnaire translations in the field of nursing science in German-speaking countries.
