Dr Elisabeth Olbert and colleagues from the Clinical Division of Neurology at the University Hospital Tulln investigated the association between COVID-19 and selected neurological diseases. In 2020-2022, twelve patients who developed Guillain-Barre syndrome, Miller-Fisher syndrome or opsoclonus myoclonus ataxia syndrome during or after COVID-19 infection were identified. The results suggest that pathomechanisms differ for these neurological diseases - depending on the time of occurrence in connection with COVID-19 infection. The entire paper was published in the “Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift” thanks to the open access funding of Karl Landsteiner University.
