Proton or Carbon Ion Therapy for Skull Base Chordoma

Rationale and First Analysis of a Mono-Institutional Experience

For the analysis of the efficacy and safety of proton and carbon therapy for radiation-resistant tumours at the base of the skull, the treatment and follow-up data of 44 patients were evaluated over a period of 4 years. The heads of the Division of Medical Physics and the Division of Radiation Oncology, Prof Markus Stock, PhD, and Prof Dr Pierro Fossati, MD, respectively, and the head of the Clinical Division of Radiotherapy and Radiation Oncology, Prim. Clin. Assoc. Prof Dr Petra Georg, MBA, were involved.  The publication was published "open access" in the journal "Cancers".
