Dyspnoe – eine einjährige Leidensgeschichte

Recent publication

The open access published case analysis of the Clinical Division of Otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital St. Pölten, reports about a 6-year-old boy who had swallowed a piece of broken glass. While initially no symptoms occurred and the shard of glass was therefore not removed, the boy repeatedly suffered from shortness of breath and showed breathing sounds in the following year. After one year, acute shortness of breath occurred and the shard of glass could be localised and removed. With this case, the doctors want to show that in case of aspiration of foreign bodies, the immediate removal of the swallowed object should be aimed for, even if no symptoms appear at first, in order to avoid protracted subsequent complaints.
