The chemicals between us

First results of the cluster analyses on anatomy embalming procedures in the German-speaking countries

Recent publication

Due to the EU's change in formaldehyde limits, the German-speaking anatomies in the EU, i.e. Austria, Germany and Switzerland, conducted a joint analysis of anatomical embalming procedures. The chemicals used, the amount consumed annually and the existing technical equipment such as a table or floor ventilation were recorded. The study, which was published in the journal "Anatomical Sciences Education", is freely accessible and intended to serve as a decision-making aid for uniform embalming protocols and as an example of best practice. It is intended to ensure both compliances with limits and high quality for preserved human tissue in the context of education.

Karl Landsteiner University was involved in the cluster analysis of the DACH countries by Prof Dr Johannes Streicher, Head of the Division of Anatomy and Developmental Biology.
