The works council is the body representing the interests of the employees at company level. Its term of office is 5 years.
The responsibilities of the works council include
- Monitoring and control rights (e.g. compliance with the collective agreement, company agreements and employee protection regulations),
- information rights (e.g. on the establishment and termination of employment relationships or on ongoing management matters), and
- rights of intervention (e.g. to improve working conditions or in-company training); and
- consultation rights (e.g., at the request of the works council, the management must hold joint consultations every quarter and provide information on important matters).
