Mission Statement of the Division of Nutritional Sciences
The Division of Nutritional Sciences is dedicated to promoting health and well-being through cutting-edge research and education. We combine fundamental and translational research efforts to identify alternative therapies using preclinical models and clinical trials, elucidating novel immune mechanisms associated with nutritional compounds and the microbiome.
Division of nutritional sciences with an emphasis on microbiome
The Division of Nutritional Sciences conducts cutting-edge research on the effects of diet on health and disease with particular emphasis on the microbiome. We aim to improve quality of life for patients by understanding the role of diet in disease development and prevention.
We are interested in studying the immunomodulatory effects of dietary components and the microbiome in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, including coeliac disease, wheat sensitivity, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, diabetes and food allergies.

Teaching
The division contributes its expertise to university teaching within the medical studies and the KL Academy.
