Erasmus+ short stay with virtual component at Charité Berlin

Experience report from our student Hanna during her Erasmus+ short stay at Charité in Berlin.

"Time flies at the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine at Charité in Berlin, and now it's already my penultimate week. I'm really enjoying it! I find the clerkship extremely informative, inspiring and valuable. Unfortunately, there is no department of psychosomatic medicine in Austria, so I'm gaining completely new and unique insights here.
I particularly appreciate the natural interdisciplinary teamwork and the humane, respectful and friendly manner in which patients are treated by everyone, including doctors, therapists and nurses.
I also like the combination of expertise in internal medicine and psychological aspects, which means that I learn a lot about classic medical parameters such as laboratory values and ECGs.
I am also enthusiastic about the teaching during the clerkship: we were given various checklists and summaries several times, as well as access to relevant specialist literature. I didn't have that during my other clerkships.
You can also take part in a varied therapy programme to learn about the different therapies. Today, I am spending the day at the other location in Berlin Mitte, in the original Charité hospital, where the focus is on tinnitus."
