This includes laboratory personnel, physicians, pharmaceutical and clinical representatives, biomedical scientists, and other healthcare professionals.

Admission requirements include the completion of higher secondary education along with relevant professional experience.

Content and Course Fee

The certificate course in Allergology and Clinical Immunology offers colleagues with an interest in allergology an advanced, postgraduate academic education that combines both theoretical and practical components.

The aim of the course is to provide specialized knowledge, foundational immunological understanding, and clinical skills in the fields of allergology and clinical immunology, both in theory and practice. Since allergic diseases typically affect multiple organ systems, gaining specific expertise and practicing effective treatment requires interdisciplinary collaboration with professionals from pediatrics, internal medicine/pulmonology, dermatology, ENT, and clinical immunology.

Graduates of the program will possess solid foundational knowledge in allergology and immunology. They will be specifically trained in molecular allergology, familiar with national and international guidelines and recommendations, and capable of collecting and interpreting relevant clinical data. Furthermore, they will be equipped to contribute to the proper and high-quality execution of clinical studies.

The Curriculum includes:

  • Clinical Immunology: Comprehensive foundations of the structure and function of lymphatic organs, immune cell systems, and mechanisms of innate and adaptive immunity, including hypersensitivity reactions. Immunology of autoimmune diseases, cancers, immunodeficiencies, and infections.
  • Allergology Including etiology, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, epidemiology, natural course of disease, and risk factors.
  • Diagnostics and Therapy: Of allergic and other immunological diseases, both theoretical and practical, covering all common diagnostic procedures and their potential, therapeutic options, and innovative treatment concepts.
  • Practical Week: Focused on case-based discussions and in-depth learning using interactive patient scenarios and training in optimized individualized patient management.

Schedule and Structure

The certificate program comprises 30 ECTS credits. It is delivered via distance learning with a concluding project week held in Krems, and is conducted entirely in English.

Content is structured into modules, each concluding with a written assessment. With the exception of practical sessions and tutorials, lectures are held virtually. Upon successful completion, participants receive an academic certificate.
