Regional events such as the Wachau Marathon attract hundreds of running enthusiasts each year. Athletes from local running clubs and across the region take part, and the town’s universities are also represented with teams made up of students, lecturers and other staff members. The course takes in the town centre and the old town, and the spectators are close to the action all along the route.
