FAQ

Help with literature research:

  • How do I access e-resources?

We recommend KLever (“KL – easily accessible e-resources”) for your literature search. KLever is a search portal offered by KL that automatically searches all e-resources accessible to KL members (students, researchers, employees). If KL has licensed the e-resource you want, you can download the full text directly from KLever. If KL has not licensed the e-resource you want, it will still appear in KLever and you will at least be able to read the abstract. Individual articles can be ordered on request – simply contact the Library Services team.

If you are not on the KL campus (i.e., not connected to the WLAN, Eduroam, or IP range of the KL), you are using remote access. To access KL e-resources via remote access, you must authenticate yourself as a KL member using your OpenCampus login, see: Instructions for remote access to KL e-resources

  • Why should I use KLever for my literature research? Are there any other recommended tools?

KLever is a search portal in which individual e-resources, such as articles in scientific journals, are correctly linked. This makes KLever the most reliable way to view all of KL's e-resources and immediately access them in full text.
In addition, KL members can also use other convenient tools alongside KLever for their individual literature searches, such as the LibKey Nomad browser extension or, of course, PubMed.

  • Why is the KL library an online-only library?

The KL's specialist literature holdings are available exclusively in electronic form. There are several reasons for this: Medical literature is now predominantly published online, as current research results must be quickly accessible in a highly dynamic and globally networked field such as medicine. Specialist literature must also be made available to researchers and students regardless of their location. Therefore, there are no library premises at the KL. Instead, you can find all of the KL's e-resources digitally in the KLever search portal. The Library Services team will be happy to assist you with any inquiries.

Yes and no. The campus library belongs to the University for Continuing Education Krems. However, it is available to all members of Karl Landsteiner Private University as part of a cooperation agreement.

  • How do I search for master's theses by KL graduates?

The metadata of the master's theses are referenced in the campus library catalog and can be accessed collectively at the following link:  KL theses (reference without full text)
