At the end of life, many cancer patients receive therapies that hardly bring any benefits, but often bring side effects and additional burdens. This overtreatment not only delays important conversations about palliative care, but can also tie up resources that could be better used to support patients. It is also a difficult situation for medical staff, as moral and emotional conflicts can arise.
