Self-administration of aspirin for acute chest pain-Does it prevent premature cardiovascular mortality?
Recent Publication
In an article in the Wiener Klinische Wochenschrift, Dr Gudrun Lamm describes the importance of self-administration of aspirin in acute coronary syndrome. Taking it early can improve the course of coronary ischaemia, but carries a slightly increased risk of bleeding in the case of other chest pain. If a heart attack is suspected, the benefits of aspirin administration outweigh the risks, which is why it is strongly recommended.
