The role of institutional ethics committees in Austria : Report of the Commission on Ethics and Scientific Integrity of the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences 2018-2023

The article analyses the work of the Commission for Ethics and Scientific Integrity at Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences from 2018 to 2023. The team of authors consists of Dr Sophie Schober, MSc, Prof. Dr Sascha Klee and Prim. Prof. Dr Franz Trautinger. Of a total of 520 applications submitted, the majority were retrospective data analyses in the fields of oncology, psychology and surgery. Around 77% of these applications received positive evaluations, which emphasises the importance of such ethics committees for ensuring research integrity.
