Risk factors for In-Hospital Mortality in Cervical Spinal Cord Injuries: A nationwide, cross-sectional analysis of concomitant injuries, comorbidities, and treatment strategies in 3.847 cases
Recent Publication
This recent study analysed data from almost 4,000 patients with cervical spine injuries. The aim was to find out which factors increase the risk of dying in hospital. Older people over the age of 65 and patients with additional bone fractures or serious concomitant illnesses such as kidney failure or pneumonia are particularly at risk. Those who require a blood transfusion also have a higher risk. The study shows: Depending on their state of health, patients with such injuries need particularly careful and customised treatment. The results were published in the ‘Spine Journal’.
