Retrospective study of postoperative survival of keratinocyte-derived skin cancer patients at the end of life
Recent publication
Surgery is the first choice for the treatment of skeratinocyte-derived skin cancer. Researchers at St. Pölten University Hospital investigated whether surgery is also the first treatment option for the over-80 age group or whether this leads to overtreatment in old age. They compared the mortality data and life expectancy after surgery of 940 patients who underwent surgery to remove skin cancer at the University Hospital at the age of 80 or older. The results are freely available in the Journal of the German Society of Dermatology (JDDG).
