Psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy in adults with depression – A literature review
Recent Publication
Marie Celine Dorczok MSc, Dr Gloria Mittmann MSc and Dr Verena Steiner-Hofbauer from the Research Centre Transitional Psychiatry have investigated the effectiveness of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for depression in a review study. The analysis of seven studies shows that this therapy leads to significant and long-term improvements in symptoms, particularly in difficult-to-treat depression - in some cases up to one year after treatment. Higher doses of psilocybin appear to achieve stronger effects. However, the researchers point out methodological challenges and emphasise the need for standardised study protocols.
