Patient-reported outcomes, neurocognitive functioning and oncologic results of pencil-beam-scanning proton beam therapy for CNS WHO G2 and G3 IDH1-mutant diffuse adult glioma : A single institution experience

A new study from KL's research and teaching centre, MedAustron, shows that proton therapy can be effective in treating certain brain tumours (IDH-mutated gliomas): The researchers have investigated how the treatment affects quality of life, memory and disease progression. The results are promising: most patients were still alive five years after treatment without a relapse and their quality of life remained stable. Many patients' thinking and memory were even better than before.
