Life satisfaction around the world : Measurement invariance of the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups.

In a large international study in which Univ.-Prof. PD Mag. Dr. Stefan Stieger was involved, the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) was analysed with over 56,000 participants from 65 countries. The results show that the scale reliably measures satisfaction regardless of language, gender and age. There were particularly large differences in life satisfaction between countries, while gender and age played only a minor role. People with financial security and stable relationships were on average more satisfied. The study confirms the global comparability of the SWLS and provides valuable insights into the promotion of well-being.
