HPV awareness campaign of the ÖH KL honoured with MSD Austria sponsorship award

At a ceremony in Innsbruck on Saturday, 16 November 2024, the "HPV Awareness Campaign on Campus Krems" organised by the student representatives of the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences was awarded the HPV Promotion Prize by MSD Austria.

The initiative, which was implemented in cooperation with KL Krems and the ÖH of the University for Continuing Education, is one of five projects that were honoured by the biopharmaceutical company for their commitment to HPV prevention and awareness and supported with 10,000 euros each. Katharina Findl BSc, ÖH Chairwoman and medical student at KL, accepted the awards on behalf of the entire project team.

The "HPV Awareness Campaign on Campus Krems" aims to raise awareness of HPV among young adults in particular and thereby increase the willingness to be vaccinated. "It is a nice signal to be honoured for our commitment to HPV awareness and vaccination. We see ourselves as key multipliers, because ultimately it is up to us to inform those around us and the next generations about the importance of this disease and vaccination, " emphasises Katharina Findl.

"We are delighted with the creativity of the projects submitted. Each of these initiatives makes a significant contribution to raising awareness of HPV in Austria," says Margit Latschen, Business Unit Director Vaccines MSD Austria. "Our aim is to support innovative ideas through the HPV Promotion Award and to further advance the fight against HPV-related cancers." The HPV Promotion Prize of MSD Austria has been awarded to selected projects once a year since 2022.
