Frailty indices predict mortality, complications and functional improvements
... in supratentorial meningioma patients over 80 years of age

A recent study investigated the relationship between a person's frailty using the frailty indices (mFI-5 and mFI-11) and postoperative outcomes in patients over 80 years of age with supratentorial meningiomas. Of the 262 patients, severely frail patients had a higher risk of complications and increased mortality. However, these patients also had the greatest chance of functional improvement after surgery. Dr Barbara Ladisich-Michl PhD, Senior Physician in the Department of Neurosurgery at St. Pölten University Hospital, was part of this study.
