This article sheds light on the development of a new method to better understand communication in care facilities. The researchers conducted observations and interviews in a Viennese care home over a period of ten months and visualised the results in a social network analysis. This revealed how complex the processes involved in providing meals are and how different professional groups work together invisibly to master everyday life. Dr Hanna Mayer from the Department of Nursing Science with a focus on Person-Centred Care Research played a key role in this study.
