Eleven clinicians appointed as university professors
As one of the last official acts of founding rector Rudolf Mallinger, eleven clinicians from the university hospitals in Krems, St. Pölten and Tulln were appointed university professors for the first time in mid-January 2026.

The tasks of the new university professors include representing and promoting the respective scientific department in research and teaching as well as actively participating in the further development of the KL and the fulfilment of its research objectives. This includes holding courses, coordinating individual modules or lines in degree programmes, developing and implementing continuing education programmes at the KL Academy as well as supervising and reviewing academic work and young academics.
Other activities include the implementation of projects, the acquisition of third-party funding, participation in university committees and administration, participation in evaluations and further training, and compliance with university standards. In addition, they can take on board functions and perform all other typical tasks.
