A current article with the participation of Prim.a Clin. Ass. Prof. Dr Andrea Podolsky from the Institute for Preventive and Applied Sports Medicine - IPAS (Krems University Hospital) shows the effectiveness of the Austrian model for outpatient cardiological rehabilitation. Particularly exciting: the innovative Phase III programme combines six months of supervised training with a subsequent home training phase and a four-week ‘refresher’. Data from over 1,400 patients shows that not only physical values such as endurance and blood lipids, but also psychological stress such as anxiety and depression improve measurably.
