Diagnosis and treatment of iron deficiency in chronic heart failure : Position statement of the heart failure working group of the Austrian Society of Cardiology

The current article sheds light on how iron deficiency in heart failure can be recognised and treated. Iron deficiency affects more than half of patients with chronic heart failure and impairs not only performance but also life expectancy. The article summarises the most important findings on diagnostics, treatment and clinical studies and provides specific recommendations for practice.
