In a 1.5-year study, the breathing air of 15,000 young people is being monitored at two locations (WKNÖ-BIZ St. Pölten and Mödling). 43 sensor systems measure CO2, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter and other environmental factors in 12 test rooms. The aim is to investigate how these air components influence the cognitive abilities of young people, from intelligence to information processing and fine motor skills. The study provides insights into optimal indoor air compositions for schools and investigates the influence of increasing CO2 levels on the psyche.
