Transliminality describes an increased sensitivity to unconscious and external influences through permeable mental boundaries. In a study of 770 art gallery visitors, it was found that transliminality is positively associated with the personality trait “openness to new experiences”. This connection was particularly evident in the areas of imagination, aesthetics and values. Prof. Dr. Stefan Sieger, head of Division of Psychological Methodology, was part of the team of authors.
